- Who are we?

meets monthly in the Methodist church in Tackley, Oxfordshire. Using modern, surround sound equipment, we show recent films in friendly, comfortable surroundings and, at the same time, raise money for charitable causes.

What do we watch?

We have a wide ranging programme in the hope that, over time, we can provide something for everyone. We hope, too, that people might want to come regularly regardless of what is on the programme, and in so doing perhaps discover some films they would otherwise not have seen.

We currently have three strands to our programming:

  1. shows a wide range of modern films - comedies, thrillers, romances, moving dramas and much more - and is aimed at a mainly adult audience.
  2. is primarily for teenagers and young adults, showing mostly high-octane blockbusters, certificate 12 or 12A.
  3. is for our younger audience and contains PG and U features. It also shows fabulous family movies with general appeal (eg. Inside Out).

When do we meet?

Our regular night is the fourth Friday of the month and our usual time is 7.30pm. and showings are usually on Saturday or Sunday afternoons. Please do check our programme for the latest dates and times.

Tickets

There aren't any! All our films are offered to the community free of charge. There is even free tea and coffee!

How are we funded?

The films are free but there is a donations basket for those who wish to contribute. The majority of our regular screenings are run for the benefit of a specific charity with 100% of the donations received going directly to that charity. However, occasional screenings are for our benefit in order for us to meet our own running and maintenance costs as we receive no outside financial help. Any surplus funds we make over and above the amount needed to cover equipment maintenance, advertising, and the films themselves is donated to charity.

Why are we here?

is a venture brought to you by Tackley Methodist Church. Films are a wonderful way to explore some of the issues we all face in our daily lives. They allow us to reflect on all sorts of questions at a safe distance as we engage with the characters, cry with them, laugh with them, get cross with them and generally share their experience. How they deal with the issues they come across may frustrate us, or give us new insights; cause us to laugh or cry; result in us hurling abuse at the screen or willing there to be a happy ending. And as we watch, we may even glimpse God at work in one way or another, whether we call him by that name or not. Above all, whether you are a person of faith or not, we hope you will enjoy the films and through them come to a greater understanding of the world we live in, the people we share it with, and the things we long and hope for in our community life together.
